Summary: Hiriko must finally face Aya with her feelings. It would be easier if she didn't know that eventually they would have to get back to their mission.

Hiriko didn't get any sleep that night. It wasn't long before her alarm went off and she dragged herself off to the shower. She wasn't sure if she was more nervous about meeting her father, or having to finally tell Aya what she thought of him. Though it wasn't easy she did her best to try and think how she wanted to word things. She didn't like being the one to tell Aya what Schuldig had done, but what mattered was him knowing, although it was possible that her brother had done something so that Aya wouldn't believe her, or would never remember so he'd have to take her word for it or something. She needed to be prepared just in case.

After getting dressed and eating a quick breakfast it was time for her to head down to the lobby. They had all agreed that it would be best if they at least attempted to make it look like they didn't know each other, so she and Aya were supposed to run into each other trying to catch a taxi. If her father already knew as much as Schuldig thought that it wouldn't matter, but the two of them heading alone to a little known private spot would give her father's people time to attack. It wouldn't be easy waiting to be found, but at least they knew what to expect even if they didn't know when. It took them an hour after their planned 'accidental' meeting to get to the place. It was nice, and quiet which gave Hiriko a little bit of courage as she heard Aya come up behind her.

"We're alone for now, so I guess we wait." There was an energy to him as his eyes kept darting around the area looking for any suspicious movements.

She needed not able to look at him as she took a deep breath. "I...Schuldig and I....I mean what he wanted to tell me was that he had..." This was getting her nowhere. She would just be better off if she said it and didn't stop to think. "He had a mission before, to mess with your heads and see what you knew. In order to do it he said he slept with You, Yoji and Ken." She had to take another deep breath and didn't look up as she waited for his reaction.

"We knew that already." He said shrugging slightly as he kept watch. "It's part of the reason Kritiker got so desperate. They aren't sure exactly what he did and they still don't know the final outcome."

"Wait..is that why they got me involved?" She asked finally looking at him intently. It would have been more effective if he hadn't been glancing in the opposite direction.

"Yeah, they figured that he would either make a move because there was another telepath, or that you would be able to eventually undo what he did." She didn't know what to think of how calmly he was talking about it. It would bother her to know that someone could just make her do something when she least expected it, but he seemed more concerned with everything else, or sure that something would be done before it came to that. She knew there wasn't anyway, at least with her present experience, that she had any chance of undoing what Schuldig had put in place. It briefly occurred to her that maybe he was lying, but she couldn't quite make herself believe that.

"What if I can't?" And they probably hadn't anticipated the two teams having to work together.

"I'm not sure. I suppose they are doing their own research." He seemed to focus on a certain patch of trees then shook his head turning to another area.

"Do the others know as well?"

"Yoji suspects most of it I'm pretty sure, but Omi and I are the only ones that have been told directly. I don't know what Ken knows."

She nodded getting closer to him. She felt pretty foolish even thinking about bringing up her feelings, but she didn't know if there would be a better time. "I'll do whatever I can." She offered before looking intently at his face. Even though he was still focusing on their environment she decided she had to do this. "Schuldig also said something else, that he still might be interested. Aya," She reached out to touch him but decided against it at the last minute. She started to open her mouth a few times, but she couldn't force any words out. "I like you, a lot actually and I want the chance to see what you think of me." She wasn't sure how loud, or clear, her voice was so she wasn't sure if he heard her.

"So far you've been a decent teammate. You've done more than could have been expected of you and you have adjusted well enough." He said once again not looking at her.

"That's not what I meant." She sighed and was about ready to just give up when something snapped. Maybe it was the fact that it was her own inability to stand up for herself that had gotten her involved with Kritiker in the first place, maybe it was the fact that she'd let so many others take things away from her that were important, and rather than fight had simply avoided the confrontation. Whatever it was she finally decided it was time to act. She didn't care if someone saw them, or if Aya even hated her afterward. She was going to act for once. Before she could stop herself she leaned forward and kissed him very softly. She sensed just a tiny bit of response so she deepened the kiss just slightly before he pushed her away. At least he didn't look angry when she studied his face.

"It's not a good idea." He said finally. "But we'll talk later, after all of this." It was likely the most answer she was going to get. Before she could go back to her spot by the tree she saw someone. Aya! It was only because she was in his mind that she knew someone was trying to knock him out. She succeeded in pushing them out and though the next few minutes were a blur the two of them managed to take care of most of the men sent to attack them, but being a telepath didn't mean that much against a tranquilizer. She went down first so she hoped maybe Aya had seen what had happened and been able to avoid getting hit, but she noticed him stumble just as she began to lose consciousness. She was reminded of what Schuldig had said and was glad they put on a good show. Her final thought though was a hope that they weren't getting in over their heads.
