Tears of Truth Part 12/Final Chapter

Please pay attention to previous disclaimers and warnings

Summary: Hiriko doesn't know if Weiss, or Schudlig, have anything up their sleeves, but she hopes they do as they finally confront her father.

Hiriko wasn't sure what she expected to find upon waking up. Certainly not a very comfortable bed, or a room that was done in white and light pink. She sat up and tried to figure out what she could about her surroundings. There was just the bed, a couple of heavily cushioned chairs in front of the window with a glass table in between them that had an old fashioned looking lamp on top of it. The only other piece of furniture was a dresser in the left corner of the room which had one of its four drawers slightly ajar. She stood realizing that she was wearing the same clothes, but that didn't give any clue as to how much time had passed. She was tempted to see what clothes the dresser held, but she decided that first she should try to get in touch with the others. It was difficult, in fact almost harder than when she had been taking the pills almost constantly, but finally she felt a connection to Aya.

"Aya?" She sent as she started trying to figure out how to get out of the room. The wall looked solid, the window was barred, and she couldn't see any obvious heating or cooling ducts.

"Yeah. We're all together in a pretty typical cell type room." At least they were all together, that was something, but she hadn't been able to connect to anyone but Aya. Well, she would figure it out later they didn't have time now. "They came to get Schuldig about three minutes ago. I'm pretty sure they knew exactly when we would wake up so expect company shortly."

"Okay. I'm in an actual bedroom I think, but it has been modified." She figured he would know what it had been modified for. "I don't sense anyone near me yet." It was possible they wanted to deal with them one at a time. She wasn't sure she liked that idea, but they would just have to be adaptable. "I wish I could be more help." They would just have to keep their eyes and ears open. After all they wanted to talk with her father first so she supposed it was just a bit too soon to worry about escaping.

"I don't think they'll give us a chance to be together. If they do it means it will be more difficult for us to get out." She had almost let herself forget they would more than likely have to fight their way out. Though she wasn't so naive as to believe that her father cared she supposed deep down she had hoped that they could work this out peacefully. It looked as if Aya didn't believe that for a minute.

"Maybe Schuldig is familiar with this place and that's why they took him away." It was getting harder to work past whatever they were using to hamper her power and she was getting a headache. "I need to take a break. If they don't come soon I'll try to check in."

"Okay, we don't have much we can do now so we're going to try and get ready." His mental voice sounded more distant as she finally broke contact.

It was not too long after that a piece of the wall seemed to move and Schuldig entered. "Come on, little sis. It seems our father wants a family reunion of sorts before bringing the others in." His voice sounded strained, but he seemed alright, well as much as he could be if their father was as bad as he claimed. She simply nodded and followed him out to a hallway that seemed to go on forever. There weren't any noticeable doors that she could see, but Schuldig seemed to know where he was going. That was a good sign so she got her hopes up just a bit. "I wouldn't get ahead of yourself. I have a 'tether' as it were. If I were trying to get us out of here I would be as lost as anyone else more than likely. Well, at least until we found someone I could use to get the information from." He said with a slight shrug.

She sighed, but nodded. Of course it wouldn't be that easy.

Finally after what seemed like an eternity Schuldig made a quick right turn into a room that, at least at first glance, looked like a normal office. The desk was some sort of dark wood, the rest of the room was done in a reddish brown and was decorated with an assortment of things that probably came from traveling the world. The man behind the desk had very familiar green eyes, dark auburn hair, and was dressed in a black suit. "Welcome, Hiriko, I've heard a little bit about you from your brother. Don't hesitate in the doorway it's very rude." His English seemed pretty standard, but there was something to it that she'd only heard from a native speakers. She moved into the room and heard something that sounded like metal whir behind her. "That's better. The others will be joining us shortly." He said as he stood. "My, my you do look so very much like your mother." He studied her intently for a moment before coming from behind the desk. "I hate to have to involve family in business, you know, but that is the way it happens sometimes." Hiriko finally noticed a picture of him on the desk. He was standing beside a very beautiful redhead who was holding a small male child. "I prefer to get the unpleasantness out of the way as quickly as possible." He said with a slight smirk.

"You always have." Schuldig said leaning against the far wall.

This only made the smirk wider as the man turned to look at her once again. "I am very glad you inherited my Talent, though I should kill that foolish woman for almost ruining it." He shrugged. "Well no matter you will get more training and it does appear from what I can tell nothing has been lost. Even if it had been I could salvage the situation."

"Training? From you?" She said trying to act nonchalant hoping to match Schuldig's attitude.

"Of course. You don't think that once I've found my dear long lost daughter I would wish to part with her." He grinned showing slightly showing his teeth. "And you've brought such an interesting prize to me."

"Prize?" She blinked not sure what he was talking about. She turned to glance to Schuldig but his only reaction was a smile that didn't look too different from their father's.

"Yes, Fujimiya. Those fools want to use his sister. It made sense at the time I suppose, but honestly it is annoying how blind they can be. I suppose it comes from getting cocky and depending on your abilities too much."

Hiriko remembered first meeting Aya some thoughts of a girl, a sister, in a coma.

"Brad says something similar, but then you know he's never been very fond of them." Schuldig offered not moving.

"He's smarter than they are, but he won't be able to play it safe forever. And what will he do if you don't return to him?" He went back to sit behind his desk and hit a button causing one of the men who had been slightly hidden in a corner of the room to use the same strange 'door' they had entered from to leave the room.

"I don't understand?" Hiriko was missing a big piece of the puzzle and she didn't like playing catch up. She never had. Maybe she had inherited that from her father.

"Well, his sister has a very unique genetic structure so it is very possible he does. I'm afraid we aren't capable of doing such tests here, but the new facility I will have up and running at the end of the week will make quick work of that." He picked up a file from his desk putting into a briefcase. "And he might have other uses as well. We'll just see, won't we?"

"You..." She was in so much shock she didn't bother to hide her reaction. She wanted to scream out that she wouldn't let him do anything to Aya, but she stopped just before the words came out. They had to handle this carefully.

"What about me? If I don't do it Eszett will. They've been curious about Weiss for a while now. It's only their precious ritual that has distracted them so far. It won't for long though." He gave her a predatory grin. "And they won't be as kind as I would. For your sake of course."

"That's a lie." She said coming closer to the desk.

"I'm sorry you feel that way, but it doesn't matter. The helicopter will be here shortly." He paused taking a few more papers from the desk.

Schuldig was watching things carefully, but hadn't made a move yet. Hiriko was pretty sure he was just bidding his time, but for what? Had the others had a chance to work out some signal or plan? Aya hadn't seemed like it so she was slightly confused. How would she know what to do if someone didn't fill her in?

The others entered the room about that moment and she didn't bother to hide her relief at seeing Aya looking mostly safe. His face revealed nothing, but that was normal and reassuring somehow.

"Schuldig, Hiriko and Fujimiya will be coming with me. The others will be sent to Eszett headquarters." When his back was turned slightly Aya took his chance. The watch he was wearing was Yoji's, though how he'd been allowed to keep it Hiriko couldn't be sure. She'd get details later and she made herself ready for whatever happened next. When she saw her father pull the gun and saw his finger on the trigger she knew Aya wouldn't be able to move in time to finish his attack, or even get out of the way. Without thinking she rushed in. At first she didn't feel anything, and then a heat like she had burned herself radiated out from her arm. She gasped and fell to the floor cradling it to her side. The blood was making a dark circle on her off white shirt she noticed in a strange sort of lucid moment.

"That was foolish." Her father said moving towards her still holding the gun out, but watching Aya was well. "Love and all of that drivel is overrated dear daughter, but lust can be very useful. Ask the lovely Kudou, or your older brother." She wasn't able to see either man's reaction as she tried to stand up. Before she knew what was happening one of the guards moved like he was going to corner the others but quickly threw something to Ken. Schuldig smirked and was beside her in the blink of an eye.

"I think, Daddy dearest, that no one here feels like going with you so why don't we just see who is better?" And before Hiriko could do anything Ken was behind their father with his glove near the other man's throat. "I've learned quite a bit from Farfarello and Ken here was perfect for a few mind blanking tests. A telepath isn't much good if there aren't any thoughts to hear." He sounded pretty satisfied with himself as the others moved to handle the guards.

The pain was making it hard for Hiriko to focus, but she could tell they had the upper hand. Her father, though, was managing to creep over to one side of the room. How he had gotten away from Ken wasn't clear, but she could tell he was going for access to the roof. Now she could hear it. The helicopter was definitely going to land any minute. The others went after him, Ken blinking a bit before following. It was Schuldig who was holding here helping her along. Her arm was numbing and she found herself becoming groggy due to the blood loss. At least she didn't think the wound was bad, but they wouldn't be able to find out until they escaped.

"He's getting away, dammit." She heard someone, Yoji, say.

"Then we go after him." Definitely Aya.

"How, exactly. It's a helicopter and we can't fly." Annoyance. Yoji again.

She had to stop him. That's all that mattered. The pilot! Wouldn't he have an ability? Well it didn't matter. She sent random thoughts to him, then moved to messing with his perception of his instruments. They had just gotten over some mountains when she, through sheer luck or maybe just messing with his head so frantically, managed to knock him out. It didn't take long before they heard the crash and the explosion. Was it over? Hiriko couldn't keep her eyes open any longer and finally blacked out.

******************************************************************************

It was a hospital this time. Her arm was bandaged and she heard someone, a woman, talking about a blood transfusion and making it just in time. She heard Schuldig's voice, but couldn't make out what he said before losing consciousness again.

******************************************************************************

When she woke up a second time Schuldig was sitting beside her bed. "I thought it would be soon. The others aren't allowed in yet. Only family." He said with a familiar smirk.

She tried to talk, but her throat was dry so it took a couple of tries to get the words out. "What happened?"

"Father appears to be dead, though we haven't found the body yet. The guard was from Kritiker, though how they kept him from blowing his cover I'll never know. Maybe they are getting better." He shrugged. "I tried a trick with Ken that got past the old man and then the fight. The rest I think you know a bit more."

"Yeah." She sat up as much as she could. "What now?"

"How should I know? Eszett may look into it, or they may not even care." He said with a shrug. "Either way they won't find anything. Brad has the files I was able to save from what Dad was up to."

"So if he isn't dead?" She didn't want to be happy about her own parent's death, but she knew her life would be better if he were out of the way.

"We will know soon enough so don't worry about it." He stood up. "I'll get something to eat and then bring the others up to visit."

"Why did you tell me about what you did to Aya, Yoji and Ken? So I wouldn't be surprised when Ken attacked?" It was getting a bit harder to think. She hadn't had enough rest it seemed, or maybe it was what they were giving her for the pain.

"No." He smirked. "So you would finally do something. It was getting annoying." He turned back to face her his hand remaining on the door frame. "I am Mastermind, little sister, not just because of my power. Think about that." He said offering a wave with his other hand before leaving.

She sighed as she watched him go. She wasn't sure what was going to happen now. Was there a chance for her and Aya? She still didn't know if she wanted to remain an assassin, but the truth was that since she had started working for Kritiker she had done more living than in her previous twenty-one years combined so maybe this was what she was meant to do. She didn't know what she would say to Aya yet, or what kind of mission they would have before them, but for the first time she was at peace with it. She wasn't just Hiriko anymore, but Athena.

So this part of the Hiriko's story comes to an end. This is essentially where the RP ended. So if you liked it please feel free to give suggestions about what you want to see happen. I think I have a bit of an idea for the next part, but it's not plot so much as a 'direction' for the story so we'll see.

I hoped you have enjoyed this and I hope I can write more.
