Honey Part 2
Please pay attention to all disclaimers listed in part 1. Sill not betaed, eventually I need work on fixing that. Anyway, on with the show.
With his plan firmly in place Schuldig headed to the flower shop that was once the cover of the four members of Weiss. Aya Fujimiya was watering plants. Occasionally she would glance around as if she felt she was being watched. Since Schuldig knew he had only just arrived it followed that someone else must be responsible. That's when he saw the flash of red hair from a nearby alley. Oh, Ran, he thought, you are so predictable. The girl forgotten for the moment he concentrated on how to get to the swordsman without getting stabbed, and how to the other man out of the area. So far he was lucky and Ran was so focused on his sister he was paying his surroundings little attention, but that wouldn't last for long. He almost, though not completely, felt the tiniest bit sorry as he worked his way into Ran's brain. It would be difficult, probably painful, but it wasn't long before he saw the other man slump against the building.
He was glad that he had decided that he needed the car as he hurried the unconscious member of Weiss into the back seat.
It was only moments later that Ran was laying on the bed of a very exclusive hotel. It took a lot of money, but if one paid the right price they could likely get away with murder in this place. Schuldig watched as Ran slept. Well, since he was bored he decided to find out what was going on behind those closed eyes.
Suddenly he found himself in a small room. A young boy, no older than two if he had his guess, was looking out the window. He held a stuffed bear and from time to time would glance to the doorway. The thoughts of children were more difficult to understand, and pinpoint. They were more chaotic and so much more intense. But Schuldig didn't have any trouble figuring out a very important fact without going into the child's mind. The boy was obviously Ran, which meant somehow the man was reliving a memory, or for some reason just had a desire to be a child again. Either was possible. The German didn't know for sure until a young woman, possibly in her early twenties, came into the room. "Ran, your parents will be home any minute." The young boy seemed to pay her little mind though and finally she came over and physically guided him into the living room. Schuldig followed still trying to make sense of this. "Now, when they come in you have to be a big boy and give your sister a happy welcome." She was straightening his clothes which only served to annoy him. "Stop!" He muttered trying to get away from her. She sighed standing up as the door opened.
The child's thoughts hit Schuldig all at once, which made him instantly regret opening his defenses so much to do this. They won't love me anymore. They'll like her better 'cause she's little. The German shook his head and got control back.
Don't worry, little one. Why he felt the need to reassure the child he wasn't sure, but the curious look that he got as the young boy turned to look at him might just have been worth it.You'll have someone to play with when you get older, it will be fun. He managed to focus only on the positive things until the child nodded and finally began to pay attention to the bundle in his mother's arms. "Aya." He said her name very carefully and looked far too serious for such a young child.
Schuldig was back in the hotel, and Ran wasn't awake yet, but it looked as if he would be soon. That had been...unexpected, but not that unusual. People often remembered long gone things when they slept, and he could understand that seeing his sister that day might bring Ran's memories back to that moment.
Violet eyes opened and with a glance around the room came recognition, and Schuldig could feel the walls going up. Oh, he could get through them easily if he wanted, but it was too much work for the moment. "Well, good afternoon sleeping beauty."
"Where are we?" Ran stood attempting to stand, but he was still a little dizzy from the attack earlier so he ended up back on the bed in a sitting position.
"A hotel." Schuldig clicked his tongue. "You didn't look so well and I thought I would be nice and help. You should thank me."
Ran glared at him. "I don't think so." He muttered attempting to stand again. Schuldig shook his head, but figured there wasn't much he could do. "I'm leaving."
"You don't even know where you are."
"I don't care." Oh, logic sometimes went right over the swordsman's head. It was almost endearing, if it wasn't so annoying.
"Fine, have it your way." He shrugged watching the other man struggle towards the door.
A glare was his only answer, but when he gave up and went to help Ran he expected to get slapped or punched when he touched the other man so that he could lean on him. What had he been thinking anyway? It wouldn't work like this...
However, Ran didn't push him away but stared at him intently. Before Schuldig could ask what it was about Ran asked. "How old are you?"
The question was not what he expected. "22."
Ran nodded. "It couldn't have been you then."
"What couldn't have been me?"
"Nothing." And he was finally pushed away. What had just happened? And then it hit him as he watched Ran open the door. Somehow him being in the other man's mind had gotten fused into, or confused with, that long ago memory. He smirked, now this he could work with.
"I really was only trying to help." He sounded like a petulant child as he touched Ran's shoulder gauging the reaction. "I will take you home. Or wherever you want to be dropped off."
"And how do I know that you won't, or that you haven't already, pick around in my mind and find out where the others are?"
"Such concern for your team mates." And one in particular Schuldig was all too aware of. "Don't worry, I have no reason to care about that." And none of them but Ran interested him anyway.
"Fine. I'll tell you where. And you go near my sister again and I will kill you, orders or not."
"Hai, hai." He gave a dismissive gesture as they walked downstairs. Oh Liebe, you should be more concerned about yourself, he thought as they exited the building.
