Tears of Truth part 7

Summary: A first kill is made, as well as some progress.
After Manx left Hiriko tried to get as much sleep as possible. She was actually surprised when her alarm went off many hours later. She got up and dressed quickly before heading downstairs to get something to eat. They had about eight hours until they had to get ready for the mission that night. At least it hadn't been as bad as Hiriko had feared. A very basic mission with actually a good deal of information to help them carry it out.
She had also managed to ask Manx about how preparations were going with her own team. She didn't want to stop working with Weiss yet, but she also was growing a little restless. As much as she liked the shop she was afraid to let it feel like home since she was well aware this would only be temporary. Manx had told her that they had three other people, but their training was going slowly. Hiriko had nodded. She had made it clear, since the rest of Weiss knew thanks to her revelation of the day before, that Schuldig was helping her. Manx hadn't been comfortable with that, but she had eventually admitted it was probably for the best. "It's not as if we can give you as much help. Just be careful." She noticed something in Manx's eyes when she mentioned Schuldig, but she figured now wasn't the best time to press so she simply nodded glad that everything that mattered was finally out in the open. She was surprised actually how much weight had been taken off of her shoulders with her simple bit of sharing, even if she had been quite freaked out while it was happening. She would likely feel better when she found out more about her mysterious father. She knew her aunt wouldn't approve, but the fact that it no longer bothered her was a bigger surprise than it should have been. She had always, except for a few rare times, been careful of never doing anything that would anger her family any more than normal. Now, though, she was finally willing to admit that what she needed and wanted mattered more than what her family thought of her. It was a very strange feeling, but she liked it. It would take Omi a while to do his research, especially with the mission taking priority. Still, she would know soon when she had given up hope of ever knowing anything. Good or bad she would finally know.
Having so much on her mind made the day go very quickly so soon it was time to close up the shop and get ready for the night.
The warehouse was by the docks, which was both good and bad in case something went wrong. They could prevent others from getting involved, but they only had one way out if they needed to make a hasty escape. She wasn't sure she liked that aspect of it, but she would have to get used to it.
They got in smoothly and nothing went wrong while Omi pulled the information and then destroyed the computer system. "Okay, time for us to get out." He said putting his equipment up as the others got ready to make their way to the exit. She had to admit she would like for more missions to go like this, that is until she noticed a couple of guards coming their way.
"Where did they come from?" She heard Yoji ask as he got his wire ready and went towards them. Aya shook his head, probably saying he didn't care they should just deal with it and get out. So far all Hiriko was doing was keeping the guards off balance. She didn't need to do much more than that since the others had everything in hand. Suddenly she heard something behind her and realized that they were about to get trapped. It took her only a few seconds to realize she had to do something. She went in her weapons ready and managed to hold them off. When one of them went for Aya's exposed back she didn't even take the time to see if any of the others were ready she simply went in and brought him down. At first what she had done hadn't seemed real. She was barely aware of the others helping her get out, or the ride back to the flower shop. It was only when they were back inside, and she had the chance to sit down that it hit her.
Of course, logically, she knew that eventually she would have to kill someone. There was a difference, however, between knowing something would happen eventually and then dealing with it after the fact. The worst part of it that on some level she didn't regret it. She would probably do it again under the same circumstances. She knew it was stupid that she couldn't actually tell Aya how she felt, but at least, in some way, she could help the person she was starting to care very deeply for.
She was looking down at the table when she heard a door open and close. If she had to she would bet it was Omi going to work on the computer. Finally she heard soft voices and then footsteps heading upstairs. She wasn't sure if she was alone so when she heard someone else sit down she glanced up and was surprised to see that it was Aya sitting beside her. "I won't lie to you and say it gets easier," He said softly, "and I won't lie to you and say that everything doesn't change. If you think it's worth it, though, you'll be okay." He stood giving her a look that as much a smile as she was likely to get from him for now. "You have to get there on your own." She nodded not really ready to even begin thinking about anything like that.
"Thanks, Aya." She said trying to smile. She wouldn't be able to sleep more than likely so she stood herself planning on quite a bit of coffee and way too much TV to keep from thinking.
He nodded and left the room. She didn't turn off the lights until she had them on in another room.
It was several hours later when she heard someone else up and realized it was Omi. He sat down with her and distracted her enough so that she managed to nap on the small couch.
When she awoke the next morning she realized that it was still too early for the shop to be open, though she heard the guys getting ready for it. She took a quick shower, which made her feel better, and then headed to the shop. She figured helping would keep her from thinking too much. When Manx showed up she found it odd, but didn't say anything as she and the others followed the woman downstairs.
Manx took a deep breath and then showed them all a file. "Based on what you found last night we can trace this warehouse to a group we've had our eyes on for a while. While we can't find a direct connection to Eszett we know there is one." She gave the file to Aya. "We don't know if they realize someone is on to them, so we have to move quickly. In that file is another warehouse we believe belongs to them. All depending on what we find there you may be going on a trip."
"A trip?" Aya asked as he opened the file. "Why would we need to go?"
"Because you know someone who can help and they won't work with any other group."
Aya raised an eyebrow as he continued to study the paper. "And who would this be?"
Manx grinned. "You won't like it, but if things go well on this mission we may not have to. I'll get everything ready just in case." Aya nodded as he closed the file.
"Since there isn't much we can do until tonight I suggest we just concentrate on getting through the day." Omi offered returning upstairs to the shop. The others followed after the next few minutes and Hiriko let herself get lost in the work, though she did wonder who it could possibly be that Manx had it mind.
