Nightmare on Elm Street

Most of the people on my lj don't know a lot of the little things that I'm into...however this little spiel has sort of been rattling around in my brain since last night..

I was watching some behind the scenes stuff on my Nightmare on Elm Street Collection and in one interview Wes Craven talked about how he felt the last few movies had sort of lost touch with the original story. So I had been thinking what I would have done differently if I had been doing the movies. I think probably having been influenced by the ones that I liked(1, 3, 4, 5) I have come up with something that's sort of a combination of them.

I would build on 3 having kids that are from Elm Street, but they don't know it or maybe only some of them do. I would have a character like Alice that is a dreamer-the perfect foil and victim for Freddy, she would become friends with one of the kids, or maybe be one herself, and she would get pulled into the whole thing-probably still surviving two movies. It would focus on her and one other character, a girl very much like Kristen, they find out about Freddy's past(also include his past from 6) due to the strength of their dreams, research they do. Of course the parents are still clueless and of no help, unless Alice is older? Like a teacher.....that way you open up the possibility that it's not just teenagers but adults who try to help them, like Nancy did, that are in danger. The dreams would be very personal, focusing on the fears and desires of each person. Freddy would probably be killing off whoever he could and trying to prevent the whole truth from coming out, because if it does he's weakened or destroyed. Also it would build on the whole idea that Freddy is created out of the evils of the past and every time the truth is buried he can come back. Of course every chance the parents get they bury it, so the kids might never be safe. And of course this plays into the ideas that Freddy is strengthened by the energy he is given, very much like a dream monster.

Well that wasn't so bad, see rant over. Anyway any thoughts? It's sort of a moot point really but it also just sort of got stuck in my head *grins*
