So my Sims game continues to have its issue. Now it seems to be random, possibly connected to a piece of clothing or a hairstyle though I don't think I have it set up for townies to have access to downloaded stuff *shrugs* Anyway, it's randomish at this point and I can work around it so I'm just going to do the best I can. I deleted the cache again and deleted a few other things I downloaded recently so I hope that it is. I have some things from pixel_trade that I really don't want to get rid of...we shall see I guess *crosses fingers* If it stays like this I suppose I can just save OFTEN and work through it since it doesn't seem bad.
I hope to get another Sims post up soon, but I haven't been in the mood to take pictures and sometimes college annoys me, but I will work through it and then get an heir post up.

Well the game is crashing. Quite a bit actually (once a session it seems). At first I couldn't get into a premade maxis lot, but I took out a lot of CC and made it in then gave them makeovers with the CC left and that seemed to help them, but now it's doing it somewhat randomly.
I think it must be a hair style or clothing. I recently got quite a few Sims from the pixel_trade community so it's possible something is going on with that. I've not done extensive testing yet, but so far it's been manageable so I'm going to see if it gets worse then I guess I'll work back through some things..somehow.

The Sims 2 Pack Clean Installer will scan through the files you have on your drive. It'll tell you what's a hack, and what's a duplicate, and you can also help narrow down the problem files if it crashes on loadup, so you don't have to use your game to figure it out.

How would I check to see the problem file with it then?

Really, that's what you do with your game, too, if it doesn't work with clean pack installer. It's just a longer wait time to get it to load. And if it's only doing it some of the time, then that won't be 100%, either.
If you do use your game to test it? Create a dummy family, and start using those to test the stuff you think might be the problem. That way, you don't have to lose all the CC on your families.
If that doesn't help (I know it might be a bit muddled), go to Mod the Sims and this page for more help.

I've done a bit of searching and trying and while I couldn't narrow it down I know it wasn't a hack or mod at least. I think it's got to be hair or clothing that I've downloaded with a new sim. At least that seems the most logical thing so far. If it continues/gets worse I'll go back and remove the Sims one by one, but with it being random now I'm not sure how long it will take me to find out.
I'll check out the page you suggested.

Hopefully that should help you find it, or the help page.
Good luck. Let me know if I can help with anything. I've had to deal with this a number of times myself. Very frustrating, very slow going, but it can be done without getting rid of all your CC.

So far I can deal with it by saving a lot. If it gets worse I know what I put in recently so I'll just remove one thing at a time (thankfully most of the people make it quite easy to tell which CC goes with which Sim).
Thanks! I think it's just going to be a matter of how bad it gets vs. my patience and desire to give up downloads.
