hirikosaunders: (Twilight: Bella/confront the truth)

First: Semi good news on the job front. I talked today to apparently the new hiring manager at Hastings and I left my number with her after telling her I have open availability, and that some time ago I worked in a similar set up (the bookstore at Berea College). She said she's going to track down my application so I'm cautiously optimistic that we might get to an interview.

There are two other places in the same shopping plaza that are taking applications/hiring that I will be checking on tomorrow probably. Wednesday at the latest.

Now, I know that my friends list is somewhat divided on Twilight. I've accepted this and am not really bothered either way and have fun with the ones who enjoy it. However, last night I managed to finally finish Breaking Dawn so I thought I would give my thoughts on the series:

Cutting for those who don't care. I am warning for spoilers though I'm pretty sure that it won't be a big deal at this point.

Enter the Savage Garden. )

I know I was going to say more, but I couldn't get to the computer in time to get it all out. I welcome any sort of respectful discussion and disagreement with my numbers since it's kind of me just looking back on things.

So it's time for maybe another list:

* Against my better judgment I have decided that my vacation is going to start this weekend.

* I still need to see The Dark Knight

* My room is still a wreck and something must be done about it.

* I need to make another list at some point for all of the things I need to do/get before school starts.

* I'm kind of hoping all the spoilers I've seen for Breaking Dawn are fake.

* Reading "The Vampire Diaries" series. I am almost done with it actually. Someone told me about this, but I cannot remember who. Please tell me if it was you.

* Reading the Uglies books. Have only just started, but so much yes and awesome it's scary.

* ummmmmmmmmm.....I think something should really go here, but I have no idea what.

There are enablers on my F-list, and at TR, because of this I went down to the library just a little while ago and got a copy of Atonement. I have been curious about it for a while, and something just hit today so yeah...*headdesk* I have so much I need to read in the next little bit, and the list just keeps getting longer.

I am quickly approaching burnout. I am letting little things take on far more importance then they should and have no patience whatsoever. I can't really focus to do homework, and though I know I should care I'm like meh when I think about school at all.

The second day of classes is about midway finished and so far it seems like it will be a busy, but not too stressful, semester.

I love my teacher for my Harry Potter class. It is good to see a professor being so geeky, and yet knowing he will have us write papers that I actually want to write. I haven't felt this way for quite a long time. Is that showing my inner literature geek? *shrugs*.

Anyway, aside from school with lots of reading, and quite a bit of busy work it seems, I am involved in two rps with a total of eight characters. I don't get them out near as much as I should so I am looking to fix that this semester. Raistlin is singlehandedly working on that since almost every post that comes up he wants to tag into. And of course I must now do extensive writings on my views on his relationships in the Dragonlance books. *headdesk* And really I thought he was slightly anti-social, go figure. He even has a few hates and likes already. One of them slightly worries me, but we won't get into that right now. I also want to throw him into secret/Halloween plot, but I don't know yet what I would do exactly so I'm working on that.

Other than worrying about financial aid(what else is new?), and trying to figure out how to get my new, desperately needed, computer not much is going on. Getting back into the grove of school, and trying to catch up on video games is taking a lot of my energy this week. Hopefully by the weekend I will feel up to doing more.

Is this really me posting again? Hopefully it will become a habit for me to at least post once a week, anyway, as I stepped away from the computer I was reminded of something else I wanted to mention.

I have tried to catch up on my reading lately, though it hasn't gone so well this week. I have read a couple of novels by Dean Koontz: The Taking (I recommend this highly though for spoiler reasons I can't fully explain why), Husband and Seize the Night (a follow-up to Fear Nothing, at least I think that's the title). To be honest in some ways as much as I enjoy him I am uncertain as to why. I normally don't like suspense, and his books are largely suspense based. Also, while his characters are always very interesting and unique they are nowhere near those of Stephen King, at least in my opinion. I suppose the biggest reason I like his work is that even though I usually am too impatient and restless for suspense he is very talented at pulling you in. You don't even realize you're following a mystery until you are hooked. I would like to read more of his novels, but I've read most of the ones that my library has, though I do have a few more checked out.

I also recently checked out Watership Down. I think I tried to read it when I was much younger and didn't make it all the way, probably just a bit over halfway. It was one of my favorite cartoons as a child and I am so glad I am getting to connect with it again.

There are way too many books I have that I need to read. I still haven't finished all of the Narnia series, or the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. At least I have them both and can. Also, still must finish Tolkien! Again, this is one I've started to read many times and haven't; there are a lot like that.

I just checked, and wow has it been a long time since I've updated, and that sadly was mostly to vent. I suppose it feels weird sometimes to update when not much has changed.

However, I can't really use that as a an excuse this time. There have been a lot changes in my life recently. The biggest, as most everyone knows who has looked at the most recent posts of mine, is that I moved at the end of January. Even with all of the craziness still going on as the house is being worked on I must say I am very happy. It is near school so it usually on takes me five or ten minutes to get here each morning, which means more sleep (this makes for a very happy Marissa). There have been some problems, and minor stresses, but hopefully they are all passed now, or if they continue remain as minor as possible.

My cat, Kyra, is still lost. I don't know what to do since it isn't really feasible for me to go back to my old place and try to look for her. Maybe that will happen eventually, but I don't see it happening anytime soon so I continue to worry. Luckily we managed to hang on to the psycho one, known most of the time as Phantom or Psycho Kitty.

Still working on replacing my iPod, since it would cost more to fix the one I have then to just get a new one. As it gets warmer I get more impatient because I would like to have one so I could go walking more. I also plan to upgrade my computer's memory and ram and get an external hard drive this summer. I love my computer, but it is long past time for an upgrade, seriously.

I've actually been working a bit more with icons lately. I need to go through and work some of the tutorials that I have, and maybe actually seeing about upgrading my photoshop at some point. One of my bosses at work has offered to put it on one of the computers there and work with me on it.

I'm still working on FF12 and Suikoden 5, but they go slowly since school is taking up quite a bit of time recently. Especially this one class that if I didn't absolute need would be dropped so fast it's not even funny. I have a Yu Yu Hakusho video game and well, let's just say as much as I love the series I think that whoever made the game should probably be punished in some horrible, very creative, way because while of course since it is a fighting game there must be button mashing the particular style of button mashing is annoying and makes no sense and seems to require at times extra fingers...perhaps this is just me.

I am still rping, but because of school and a few other things that have sort up happened recently I've not done very much with my pups at all. Hopefully this will change, especially when summer gets here.

I can't wait for summer, mostly for the fact I'll more money than for the VERY warm weather. Also, I probably won't be taking any classes so that will be a bit of a relief. I hope to be able to go to Otakon, but unless I start doing something soon I'm not sure how I will work it out. I still haven't heard from a few places where I sent my stories some months back so I suppose in May it will be time to do the rounds again.

I haven't really thought about the last Harry book yet because it really hadn't hit me until recently how soon it was going to be here. Naturally, like most everyone I have ideas, though they are mostly questions actually that I think she should answer. Of course, I am not holding my breath because I fully accept that maybe I am over-analyzing and I may be the only person who wants to know the answers to certain things(well okay not really but it is possible). If the money situation in April allows I will probably pre-order and get that out of the way then its wait for the movie. Also, there is an animated Dragonlance movie coming out in fall that I'm excited about.

Now that I've rambled (and boy have I rambled) I guess I will take my leave of this post. Hopefully I will actually start updating more, at least this is the plan. Also, I would like to actually have more of my writing here. I still need to work on my homepage as well.
Well I've not even had my first class and needless to say it feels like it's going to be one of those days that you just should have stayed in bed.

My heat stopped working possibly sometime last night. It stayed around 70 degrees Fahrenheit until this morning. When I left it was about 61. The good news is that my landlord knows and is sending someone over either this afternoon or tomorrow. Bad news, if they don't come today tonight is supposed to be just as cold. This doesn't bode well.

Since I haven't updated in a while- midterms went relatively well. I got mostly As except one C, my music theory class. Basically it wasn't the best week for a test, but hopefully I can do better on the final.

I enjoyed a four day break which allowed me to do some rping and a lot of reading. It was very relaxing, though there's still quite a bit of stress alas. I suppose you can't help but wish they were longer really no matter what.

I guess that's it for now. Hopefully I will have an update that details the heat situation and maybe I can work on some icons this weekend.
